Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. Job Summary:
***NOW OFFERING A $4,000 SIGN ON BONUS***
We are seeking a professional nurse who has both administrative and clinical responsibilities for the daily operation of our Casa Esperanza and Shattuck clinics. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating the delivery of patient care within established regulatory guidelines and professional nursing practice standards.  This is done through management of human, fiscal, and other resources as well as professional collaborative relationships with partner agencies.

Hours:    Full-time; 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm 

Responsibilities:
      a. Clinical Responsibilities
  • Oversees and monitors clinical operations; develops policies and procedures for clinical operations in conjunction with the BHCHP Medical Director; maintains all state and federal agency regulations.
  • Provides triage and nursing assessment of walk-in-patients as needed, provides oversight to the dispensing and distribution of over-the-counter medication according to standing orders.
  • Develops and sustains the environment that supports excellence in clinical practice through planning and implementing programs that contribute to positive patient outcomes; evaluates the adherence to and effectiveness of interdisciplinary clinical standards and programs through the establishment of quality improvement activities.
  • Holds staff accountable for implementing standards of care, practice, and performance.
  • Serves as a consultant on clinical matters related to area of expertise and participates in indirect care as needed.
  1. Administrative Responsibilities
  • Interviews, hires, supervises, and evaluates staff according to established personnel policies and procedures of BHCHP.
  • Chairs weekly staff meetings of clinical and support staff; attend BHCHP monthly management and clinical operations meetings; attends partner agencies meetings to maintain a collaborative environment.
  • Provides oversight of clinical and staff schedules; serves as a resource/mentor to staff regarding professional development, encouraging continuing education, and individual learning opportunities as appropriate.
  • Oversight of clinic being within regulations of the department of public health.
Qualifications:
Basic Knowledge/Skills:
  • Understanding of substance use disorders and mental illness.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to provide effective leadership for assigned staff and to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and health team members required.
  • Computer proficiency inclusive of ability to access, enter, and interpret computerized data/information required.
  • Spanish speaking strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of the Latin culture and openness to learn.
Experience and Education:
  • License to practice professional nursing in Massachusetts required.
  • Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate nursing program required; Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible nursing experience, minimum of two (2) years of leadership or management experience.
  • Experience working with substance use disorder and mental illness preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:

  • The compensation starts at $88,600 per year and increases based on years of experience.
  • BHCHP full time employees are eligible for our competitive time off policy of 4 weeks’ vacation, health, dental and vision insurance, 403B retirement savings plan and employer retirement contribution, and pre-tax MBTA pass program with 40% discount. In addition, eligible employees will receive yearly increases, additional compensation of seven thousand five hundred dollars added to your base hiring rate for demonstrated bilingual proficiency and the opportunity to work with local hospitals and community health centers.
