Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program is looking to hire a per diem Pharmacist Intern. In this role you will be responsible for helping the Pharmacists perform daily tasks to serve patients. Your duties include filling and labeling prescriptions, interacting with customers to answer questions or give them their prescriptions and contacting customers to notify them when their prescription is ready.Responsibilities: - Supports pharmacy services by stocking, preparing, and distributing medications.
- Helps health care providers and patients by greeting them professionally, answering questions and requests, and referring inquiries to the pharmacist.
- Maintains pharmacy inventory, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs. Ensures separation of 340B drug inventories as applicable.
- Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Prepares medications for pharmacist to dispense by interpreting medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, and calculating quantities.
- Counsel patients under direct pharmacist supervision
- Perform medication reconciliations
Qualifications:Experience and Education:- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- License Required: Pharmacy Student Intern
- State licensure/registration
- Must be a Doctor of Pharmacy student enrolled in an accredited college or university, or a graduate of a non-approved school of pharmacy who meets the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy requirements for registration
Basic Knowledge/Skills:- 0-1 years related work experience required
- Experience managing multiple competing priorities; excellent prioritization skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication skills
- Skilled in exercising initiative, judgement, discretion, and decision making to achieve objectives
- Quick learner with customer service mindset
- Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Desired Other Skills:- Familiarity with 340B program
- Familiarity with adherence packaging and home delivery
- Familiarity with the MassHealth ACO program
- Familiarity with Federally Qualified Health Centers
