Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. We are committed to ensuring that every one of these individuals has access to comprehensive health care, from preventative dental care to cancer treatment. Our clinicians, case managers, and behavioral health professionals work in more than 30 locations to serve some of our community’s most vulnerable—and most resilient—citizens.

Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program is looking to hire a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy technician team to ensure efficient, accurate, and safe medication preparation and distribution. In this role, you will provide leadership, guidance, and support to pharmacy technicians, while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies. You will also collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.


Responsibilities:
  • Supervise, train, and mentor pharmacy technicians to ensure adherence to established procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Manage and schedule pharmacy technicians across shifts.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative and accountable work environment.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation, labeling, and dispensing of medications.
  • Monitor inventory levels, ordering, and restocking supplies.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
  • Conduct audits and inspections to ensure adherence to protocols.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and safety.
  • Address and resolve workflow issues or discrepancies.
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain technician licensure records and continuing education tracking.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to optimize service delivery.
Qualifications:
Experience and Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred
  • Current and active Pharmacy Technician license/certification as required by MA regulations.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician
Basic Knowledge/Skills:
  • Experience managing multiple competing priorities; excellent prioritization skills. Creating a safe and effective environment
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills including ability to analyze data to identify trends and communicate them through effective reporting methods
  • Strong attention to detail; quality focused
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
  • Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication skills including experience presenting complex information to senior leaders
  • Skilled in exercising initiative, integrity, judgement, discretion, and decision making to achieve objectives
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong leadership skills
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and inventory management tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Desired Other Skills:
  • Familiarity with 340B program
  • Familiarity with adherence packaging and home delivery
  • Familiarity with the MassHealth ACO program
  • Familiarity with Federally Qualified Health Centers
Compensation and Benefits:
  • The compensation starts at $25.19 per hour and increases based on years of experience.
