Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program is looking to hire a per diem Pharmacy Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for helping the Pharmacists perform daily tasks to serve patients. Your duties include filling and labeling prescriptions, interacting with patients to answer questions or giving them their prescriptions and contacting patients to notify them when their prescription is ready.Responsibilities: - Supports pharmacy services by stocking, preparing, and distributing medications
- Helps health care providers and patients by greeting them professionally in person and by phone, answering questions and requests, and referring inquiries to the pharmacist
- Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs. Ensures separation of 340B drug inventories as applicable
- Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
- Organizes medications for pharmacists to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating quantities, and assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies
- Maintains records by recording and filing physicians’ orders and prescriptions
- Generates revenues by calculating, recording and issuing charges as applicable
- Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments
- Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information
- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed
Qualifications:Experience and Education:- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- 1-3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- State licensure/registration
Basic Knowledge/Skills:- Experience managing multiple competing priorities; excellent prioritization skills. Creating a safe and effective environment
- Strong analytical and organizational skills including ability to analyze data to identify trends and communicate them through effective reporting methods
- Strong attention to detail; quality focused
- Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication skills including experience presenting complex information to senior leaders
- Skilled in exercising initiative, integrity, judgement, discretion, and decision making to achieve objectives
- Quick learner with customer service mindset

CompensationThe compensation for this position is $22.00 per hour.
